Description
A fizzy, citrus-forward drink made with homemade lemon syrup and sparkling water—perfect for refreshing hydration or a healthy soda alternative.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3–4 large fresh lemons (preferably organic)
- ½ cup sugar or honey (adjust to taste)
- 1 cup water (for syrup)
- 3–4 cups sparkling water, chilled
- Ice cubes (to serve)
- Optional: mint leaves, cucumber slices, ginger syrup or juice, raspberries or strawberries, lemon zest, or vanilla extract
Instructions
- Roll and juice the lemons to get about ¾ cup (180 ml) of lemon juice; strain.
- In a saucepan, combine 1 cup water with ½ cup sugar or honey. Bring to a boil, stirring until dissolved.
- Remove from heat, stir in lemon juice, and let cool to room temperature.
- Transfer the syrup to a sterilized glass bottle or jar and refrigerate for up to 1 week.
- To serve, add about 3 tbsp of syrup to a tall glass.
- Fill halfway with sparkling water and stir.
- Top with more sparkling water and ice cubes.
- Garnish with mint, lemon slices, or fruit as desired.
Notes
Use freshly squeezed lemon juice for the best flavor. Adjust syrup-to-water ratio based on your preference. For visual flair, freeze fruit into ice cubes before serving.
