Savory Florida shrimp pie with a golden flaky crust, loaded with creamy shrimp filling and herbs. A Southern comfort classic.
Ingredients
1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
1 lb Florida pink or white shrimp, peeled and deveined
1/2 cup diced onion
1/2 cup diced bell pepper
1 stalk celery, chopped
1 tbsp butter or olive oil
3 large eggs
1 cup heavy cream or milk
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
1/2 tsp Old Bay seasoning
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
2. In a pan, sauté onion, pepper, celery in butter until soft.
3. Add shrimp and cook until just pink. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
4. In a bowl, whisk eggs, cream, salt, pepper, and seasoning.
5. Stir in shrimp mixture and cheese.
6. Pour into pie crust, smooth top.
7. Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden and set.
8. Cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
